    Core and slice each apple into thin slices.

    In a large bowl, combine the apples, lemon juice, bourbon, sugar and cinnamon. Toss to coat the apples.

    In another bowl, combine the granola, oats and softened butter. Using your fingers or a wooden spoon, mix everything together.

    Place the apples in a 10-inch cast iron skillet. Top with granola mixture.

    Bake for 30-40 minutes in the oven, or until the top is browned and the apples are soft.

Expert Tips

  • If you use an apple corer to slice the apples, go ahead and cut each slice in half once more, making them thinner. They'll soften quicker in the baking process.
  • This apple crisp tastes best served with a dollop of vanilla ice cream.
